RECREATIONAL
SOCCER
About Our Program
Our Recreational Soccer Program is designed to teach players the fundamentals of soccer in a safe, fun and learning environment. We focus on skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. We offer recreational soccer in the Spring and Fall outdoor seasons for ages 4 through 8th Grade.

- Recreational soccer divisions are based on the players age on the day of the first game of the season, not parental choice. There are limited exceptions.
- Playing Up: As a benefit/incentive for Head Coaches, they may choose to have their child(ren), on the team they will be personally coaching, play up one division. MSI Board Members may also adjust the division a player is on according to skill level, or recommendation from a coach. This can also help MSI build viable teams and divisions.
- Division Exceptions: MSi reserves the right to adjust divisions for players that have birthdays nearest the cutoff dates in order to help build viable teams and divisions.
Rules
Murphysboro Soccer Inc. follows the IYSA Laws of the Game. The game may be modified, with fewer rules for the lower divisions. At older levels nearly all the rules are in effect.

Coaching and Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for parent/adult volunteers to help by coaching a Recreational soccer team. Murphysboro Soccer Inc. would not exist without the help from our Volunteers. MSI provides training programs for parents/adult volunteers interested in coaching. Not interested in coaching but still want to help? MSI also needs volunteers for our concession stand, grounds and field maintenance as well as Board Members. We hope you will consider helping the MSI Recreational Soccer Program by coaching or volunteering. If interested please contact murphysborofc@gmail.com
Want to Join The Club?
Our organization’s continued success relies on volunteers. We are always in need of coaches regardless of soccer knowledge. Whether you’re helping on the field, on the sidelines, or in the concession stand, we’d love to talk to you about how you can get involved!
